Priceless!

Exeter cafe asks UKIP supporters to sit in corner after Farage comments on breast feeding.

I wonder if some people feel uncomfortable about breast feeding, if they are eating something like cauliflower cheese, or downing some milky cappuccino.

Mud 13:53

I'm the wrong gender to breast feed, but even I can imagine that a woman would feel uncomfortable trying to breast feed if she were eating cauliflower cheese or drinking cappuccino at the same time.

Though they're supposed to be better than we are at multi-tasking!

deflection.

I mean that if someone, who is eating dairy food, can see a woman breast feeding, they may feel uncomfortable, disgusted, sick etc.

I am just wondering.

I'm also wondering if there is a little protesting-too-much going on, from people criticising Farage.

I honestly don't understand what that last sentence meant.

I mean, they might agree with Farage, to some extent, or at least feel a bit uncomfortable about women breast feeding, but don't like to admit it to themselves, and others, so protest more strongly than they would if they were being honest.

I might be wrong though.

To be honest, like many blokes, I would feel uncomfortable if a woman was breastfeeding in a restaurant at a table opposite mine.

I'd be worried that, if my glance happened to fall in her direction, she'd think I was trying to look at her breast, so I'd spend the whole meal tense, with my head uncomfortably down, trying to make it obvious that I'm "not looking."

I'm fine with public breastfeeding in, say, a street or a park, where you can just walk on by, but in a restaurant you are stuck in a seat that is facing a certain direction. Where are you supposed to look if someone in your direct line of vision starts breastfeeding? How do you make it clear that you are not a peeping tom?

Just make a point of looking the other way, Paul.

Mud, I don't think anyone can protest against Farage and his followers too much.

Well, yeah. If anyone thinks UKIP is the answer then they're asking the wrong question.
