Drink driving by spanner in the works

Hypathetical question.......Socially, drink driving is unacceptable! Why then do we sympathise with drink drivers who have caused so much devastation to other peoples lives when only by the grace of god no one else has been hurt (physically)?

Are we talking about a certain incident on Springhill?

Probably best not to include the Springhill crash in any discussion until after postmortem resulte.

Concerned,

Does that include the direct speeding comment made by you under another subject. Your authority, knowledge & intelligence is fantastic.......Alledgedly! ! ?

Excellent point.

Though it may be easier to prove drink driving than speeding. In which case you are more right than me ;)

...of course I should have pointed out that we don't know if either of these was a factor in the crash.

You're the only one who has made any direct references to any specific occurrences. Don't feel guilty, just get your facts straight before making any specific comments regarding actual events. Don't worry, your not alone, rumours are an amazing source of entertainment to some and of course, pain to others! The truth sometimes has the same effect.

So, to get back to your topic at the top, who do you feel sympathises with drunk drivers then? My impression is that the media doesn't, not many people I know do...

Depends on the cir***stances. Is the person who has four large glasses of wine at the Christmas party, gets a taxi home and then drives to work next morning but just over the limit treated any differently in law, than the person who deliberately sets out to drive home after a heavy session? Not at all! But do we privately think differently, if they both manage to get to their destinations without incident?

well, in the eyes of the law they are the same, though in the court they might be treated differently. I'm sure many people are not aware that they can be over the limit the next morning.

We could have a Swedish approach with drivers being stopped at random for breath tests in the morning. There'd need to be a change in the lasw so that cars can be stopped without reason.

...oh and the govt would have to reverse the fall in Traffic Police numbers else there'd be no-one to do the stop and checks.
