Hello. I'm new at this so I hope I'm in the right area for info on my ancestors.

My maiden name is Walkley and I'm into genealogy. I have found out my ggg grandfather and his family lived in Nailsworth in the 1800's His name was William Walkley and was a master baker in nailsworth or surrounding areas. He once lived at 34 Chapel Street in 1871 and also 40 George Stree in 1861....I believe that is the George Hotel.

I see there is a "Walkley Hill" in Nailsworth and I'm wondering why it was named Walkley Hill??? I have tracked my Walkley ancestors as far back as the 1600's all living around the area. Meaning Box, Amberley, Minchinhampton, Nailsworth and Horsley.

If anyone can help I will be very very grateful cos I'm a nosey bird!!

Is there a Walkley Hill in Nailsworth? I know there is one in Stroud, just down the valley.
