Steiner was a complete nutjob of the first order
Now look.I have been involved with 2 local Steiner organisations, and I have to say that the above statement is a load of complete...truth. Steiner is total codswallop.
I can't make the Randi website link work, so hope I'm not repeating some of what it says on there, but...the chief deity of Steiner religion is Marduk, (a Babylonian god roughly equivalent to St Michael, hence the Michaelmas connection) who slew a dragon, the cosmos somehow springing from the two halves of the dragon. Isis, the Divine Mother, also features. Mankind came (in spirit form) from another planet (Jupiter, I believe)
The ultimate aim of Steiner students is to gain the ability to see angels. Seven pints of Vicar's Stout in the Village Inn tends to do the trick for me.
Biodynamic agriculture features strongly in Steiner philosophy. This is a form of witchcraft, encouraging 'sky spirits' and 'earth spirits' to influence the growth of crops, depending on whether the crop grows above or below ground. In one ritual, cow horns are buried in the ground, containing the ashes of powdered rats, whilst a chant to Marduk is repeated. One local organisation sent a grant form off to the Ministry of Agriculture, containing the phrase "the cow is connected to the Cosmos...it draws down energy from the moon via its horns.."
As for the people that run such places...an earlier post summed them up quite well enough.
